Ignorance, (illiteracy) / uneducated people, provides Fear!  Just as when a few dedicated "people" attacked our banking

How to Dig a
Well!   WATER
The tree of                          LIFE
T-Well                                                                                        To dig a well.
To dig, (drill) a well
“Colder than a well digger’s ass” was one of the favorite sayings of the HUMP.  I was still in the naive stage and could not figure out how ones
behind would become cold simply by drilling a well, as the flowing story will review.  Revile

After the “chicken shack” was rebuilt, the next step was to obtain water from a well.  Like I said, the water level, (table),
was about 5 ‘ down.  (Later, as the years went by and more people moved in the area, we constantly had to dig the well
deeper).  We had an old fashion “post hole digger” that had offset blades that when turned, would dig down and fill the
bucket of the “digger”.  We used this to drill a hole in which an old fashion “hand pump’ was used to draw up water.
When the water dropped, we added sections of pipe to the “digger in order to dig deeper.
When the well became to be to deep for the hand pump, my father bought a cirtrifical (centrifugal) pump and a small
engine, “Briggs & Stratton (like on a lawn mower).  Then we used a “fan belt” to power the pump, so whenever we
needed water, we would have to start the engine and fill a tub whith water so that we could “bucket” it in to the house.
(Hence, I became an expert on starting small engines).  [Later I will tell the story of how I took an old mower, whith grass
growing out of the spark plug hole and made it run]
Then the water became so deep that we had to dig down so deep that even the centrifugal, (there is a whole story on this
word), pump could not bring up the water.  (25 feet deep limit)
Now it became a new ball game.  Not only that we had to drill the well deeper, but also my father had to buy a “jet pump”.
Jet, so called because about 20 feet down, a smaller pipe would push water down to an “Jet” that in turn would push the
water up in the larger pipe, (2 inch pipe).  Just below the “Jet” was a “check valve” that would prevent the water from
flowing  back down out of the pipe.  When I attended a program at UOP Stockton, called “Aqutobia”, when checking the
contents of a slew in front of expensive houses in Stockton, one of the teaches (professors) made up a section of pipe
that contained such a valve.  However, he could not understand the principle that the pressure of the water would close
the valve.  No matter how much I tried, I could not get through to him how it worked.  (Like must “teachers”, they just want
to talk, not to learn!)  In addition, there was a “foot” value at the end of the pipe.  We had to keep pulling up the pipe so
that we could dig deeper as the water table would keep dropping.  We would clamp the pipe(s) whith a homemade clamp
made out of 2 by 4s whith bolts on either end of the clamp.  The pipes would be full of water, which made it heaver to
hoist, especial when the well got down to around 80 feet.  (Later, deep wells were fitted whith “submersible pumps that
would push the water up).  Now along whith the pump, one had to have a reserve tank.  Otherwise, you would have to
turn on the motor every time that you wanted water.  The tank was a “pressure” tank.  Upon filling the tank whith water,
the air trapped above the water would create a pressure. The pump had a pressure gage that would shut off the pump
when it reached a certain P.S. I., about 60 pounds.  Sometimes the tank would fill up, therefore not having enough
pressure; the pump would constantly turn on and off.  I would have to cut the juice and drain the tank, then refill.
Since our “house” was still a shack, we had no “plumbing”.  My parents had picked up an old kitchen sink and had
attached a garden hose for a drain 25 feet from the house.  (Later in life, I experimented whith planting frogs in the
“drainage” ditch, proving the theory of evolution)!  After installing the pump, my father ran a hose to that sink.  No hot
water as of yet.  Some time, my parents obtained a gas stove and water heater.  Up until that time all that we had for heat
and cooking was just a single two hole rectangular wood stove.  After getting the oven, they got a huge gas tank from
Camporas”.  When the tank got low, they would come out with the tanker truck and refill our tank.  NO MOMMIE LAWS!
(When I was working for “Flotile” cannery, I would fill the fork lift truck up with butane just like everybody did back then).
THE DRILLIN RIG; in the olden days, people helped each other, sort of like a “barn raising”.  (There was and no need for
“mommie”  laws because no one would ever sell, give or loan any thing to a friend/ neighbor that would be in any way
harmful).  There was a homemade drilling rig shaped like a “cherry picking ladder”, only heaver.  At the near bottom of the
rig was a car transmission, whith a cranking handle, attached to a drum, which would hold the cable that would lower and
raise the drilling bucket.  When hosting the loaded bucket, one would put the transmission into low gear so that one
could crank up the bucket,  There were metal rods that would hook up to each other reaching to the middle of the rig to
allow the turning of the drill bucket.  Two hand made “wrenches” were used, by two men opposite each other walking
around in circles to turn the bucket.  (There was your power or “energy”).   I must have been around 12 years old at the
time.
One day in the afternoon, after working all day, I lost my grip on the crank and it spun around and glazed my head leaving
quite a gash, (the scar is still there).  When at the doctor, the nurse remarked, you could collect on this, no I said, I’m
working at home.  Back to the rig.  People would borrow it from who ever had it last.  It was quite heavy and took several
men to move.
However, I am getting ahead my self.  Pay, Give & extort had just recently installed power poles along Sunny road, after
the county agreed to pave the then dirt road.  Everyone had to lay converts at the side of the road so that the floodwater
could flow.  Now in order to operate the new pump, one had to have electricity.  At that time, we were considered in the
“country’ so we were absolved by the money hungry County “fees”, all that was required was from PG&E.  That being, a
pole, or in our case, a 6 by 6 post, and a 6 foot galvanized ground post.  The people that lived across the road, whith
about a dozen kids, all living in a “circus tent’, whith a dirt floor, had installed pole after us.  The wife bragged about how
her husband dug a deep hole for the ground rod, (pipe).  When the inspector came out to inspect before hooking up the
power, he answered her by saying, “yeh, but it aint galvanized”!  We had a simple two-fuse service box whith the hot and
cold wire slung over to the pump.  My father ran a wire to the house allowing one light bulb in the one room shack.  The
wires were hung low, okie style.  One day upon returning home, we found our dog hanging in the wires, having been
electrocuted.
Finally, the water level became so low that we could no longer drill deeper, plus, my father used thin sheet metal type pipe
that eventually caved in.
I might add here that at the time, I understood that the underground water was in strata’s, so when we drilled lower, we
would go through soil before we hit another level of water.
When we left Sunny Rd, my parents, about 50 years ago, the water table was approximately 180 feet.  Right after the UOP
program, I called several water pump and drilling companies to find out what the depth was now.  Much to my surprise, it
was about the same.  You see, since we are so close to the Delta, seawater has been filling the void that is being created
by the extraction of the ground water.  Pumping water and/ or oil out of the ground has caused massive ground sinking.
In some parts of the State, the ground has sunk in access of 6 feet.  In long Beach, Ca. the city is pumping seawater back
into the old water wells to prevent the future sinking of the area.
Just like ALL of the meetings on the water crises, information by “experts”, public employees, politicians and I, has not
made a dent in the on-going problem.

What is the "head-line" for the day?  Is it
that the earths demise is commencing?
No, it is what a sports figure is doing or
what a sex symbol is doing.  We must

attention to what is real and how our
environment
effects us, our children and the planet!
                                      THE Green GAME
There are three basic types of “green”; Green grass, Green money and the “news media” Green House effect, which
refers to a “Hot House”.  If one desires to grow plants in a controlled environment, one plants in a enclosed area,
usually a glass house that controls the temperature and the moister content.  Nothing to do whith GREEN!
I’m going to add something here.  Lawn mowers: one must move to sustain life, in other words, exercise. To push an
old fashion mower requires one to expend “energy” via exercise, therefore not only keeping your body healthy but it
also saves your money and helps save the environment by not running the combustion engine.  (The same thing
applies to a “carpet sweeper”)!
                                                    China and Water
In the past, the "good ol days", there were several standards of the day.  There was plenty of water, for one.  Another
one  that was that everything was made, built or manufactured to extreme quality for performance and longevity.  As the
U.S.
American became more ignorant and businesses became more shoddy and inferior, things were made "cheaply".
Therefore, most all plumbing supples, (parts), water is allowed to "leak" so as to loosing a tremendous amount of
water!
Not to mention lead and other poisons sent to us via "American" inferior products made and shipped from china!
There is a museum in Gamala Stan, (the old part of Stockholm) dedicated to NOBEL.  At the entrance, behind
the welcome desk, in a semi circle, on the floor, there are names of things that occur, (will happen) in order
to qualify for the Nobel peace prize.

                                                                       THE ADAPTER
*   I believe that it was “Mark Train” who said “East is east and West is west and the two will never twine”.   He meant Asia and Western Europe, along whith the U.S.
However Samuel Clemens was a wealthy man that portrayed being poor, while I am a poor man playing the rich mans game.  This story is about the wide gap between the
conceited (narcissistic)  “Americans” and the egotistical European!
The last time that I arrived in Brussels, I took a underground tram from the airport right to the old city center, “the Square”, surrounded by gold topped buildings.  This
time I thought that I would do the same thing; however, I jumped on a train by mistake and landed in a small town north of Brussels by the name of Leuven.  There was a
young man on the train, which was sparsely filled, that inquired about the town.  He was a college student, I think.  Everyone in Europe speaks perfect English.  There is
no such thing as an “accent’, only those who do not learn how to pronounce any particular language.  So, I decided to stay there for a couple of days.  It was the end of
May and a warm day.  However, by the grace of God, I mean that literally, I was able to obtain my objectives.  I always expect a hassle in my travels to Europe as I do not
make reservations and play it “by ear”.  The very first thing that I had to do was to get some of their money, “exchange”.  I enquired at several banks, but no one would
cash travelers Cheques (checks).   I kept going, pulling on my luggage along whith , my then, fully loaded travel bag, asking people where I could exchange.  So the bank
that was recommended would not cash the cheque.  However the nice young lady took me outside to a machine,(ATM) and wala, I got three hundred Euros, $410 U.S.  (She
was so nice that I tried to make a date).  I’m always doing stupid things like getting instant “crushes”, (in the old days I could take them home or go to their home), but
really, I still love the same lady for over five years now.  (I do not have her yet).
The next step was to find a hotel.  Same problem, however everyone was so nice and helpful.  I ended up back close to the train station where there was sort of a center,
hotel restaurants, bars and such.  A very nice young couple owned and managed the hotel.  Along whith taking my usual walking tour on my own, I got lost in the old
university district.  Passing by an old hardware type shop, I noticed what looked like an adapter, (in the window) for their current.  We, “U.S.NES, have 110-120 volts while
they have 220 volts.  My camera and my razor could use either one; however, their plug has two round pins, other than our flat prongs.  Therefore, one needs to have a
simple adapter that pugs into our type socket to their round prongs.  The owners of the shop were a couple of elderly folks.  I told them what I wanted and he said, “yes, I
have what you need, a lot of students come here and need the same things”.  He than retrieved a rectangle cardboard box that had several of these small inexpensive
adapters.  Now is a good time to explain “China & water”.  You see, just about everything now is manufactured in China, packaged in little plastic bags, no more just
buying a simple “dozen” of something, as I will explain later while I was in
Tempere, Finland.  (Later I lost the adapter and could not find another).  Indeed, I was lost.  I was
then  pointed in the direction that I should  travel back to my hotel, all the time thinking that I was going the wrong way.  However, having faith in the old gentleman and
his wife, I kept walking and sure enough I could see the train station.  The point of this story is that the entire electrical mechanized world depends on one little simple
part.  We could take a lesson on this to achieve world peace!
"A chain is no stronger than it's weakest link"  This means that if only one link in a chain breaks the chain becomes worthless!
Because of a nail, a shoe was lost, caucusing a horse to be put out of action.  For the lack of a horse, the battle was lost.
Because the battle was lost, the war was lost.  Because the war was lost, the people died.
There are many new life saving electronic medical devices that save lives.
All one has to do is to pug it in to any current.
However, in the case of a different type of current, a certain type of male
plug was needed to connect said machine.  Since the ADAPTER was not
readily available, the patient
died!  [So much for international cooperation]!
