Kalifornia "Delta" "To drill a well" I thought of a way to save and correct the problems and/or diffaculties of the present and future problems of th Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta

Stockton Ca. has the longest natural seaport in the world. It is natural in the sense that the "channel" follows a river which
has to be constantly dredge out to allow ocean going ships to navigate the river whith a limited draft. During the WW
era, th U.S. Navy built a port, (docks and warehouses) in Stockton as at that time it was assumed that because it was so far inland that it would be reasonably save from
attack. Now that theory is not necessary true. So whith no immediate use
for the docks, the navy turned it of to the City of Stockton. It will always be under the power of the Navy in case of war.
Since the navy has not used the docks in decades, they need massive repair, including the dept of the river right next to the docks. The Port of Stockton has been always
at least a decade behind the times. But like the rest of the city's planing, "they" have "pipe" dreams. Meanwhile, wealthy people have built fancy houses right across from
the old docks as there has not been any action since would war two. So they are objecting to the noise of the ships working at nite. But the real problem lies in the Port's
desire to dredge out the area which has accumulated stuff for years. Since the river is almost dead as of now, it is great concern to people who would like to see the river
viable again. The feel, whith scientific back-up, that messing around digging up the past muck will further pollute the river and put the finale nail int the coffin.
To Dredge the Stockton Channel?
There has been a lot of discussion (talk) of, once again, dredging the Stockton channel (the Jan Joaquin River), but this time it will evolve semi virgin ground.
That is to say that the aria to be dredged has not been touched for decades. The fear is that many years of sludge containing many pollutants, will be stirred up and really
contaminate the river, perhaps putting the finale straw in the demise of said river. Not only will this affect the S.J. River, but the effect will flow down into the Delta and on to
the S.F, bay and possibly to the San Pablo Bay and into the Pacific Ocean. Now here comes a “fly in the ointment”. A BIG fly. (That “be”) a LONGSHOREMAN!
While most women are dumb, most men are stupid. Therefore a MAN will sacrifice his health for a JOB. Now, for get the pansy ansy yippy, “News Media” term “career”, most
union jobs are non professorial. Therefore, once they get a good job (men), especially if it a good union, they don’t want to take a chance of trying to obtain another JOB.
For instance, if one was working in a coal mine that was killing the town, including their family, they would cry like babies if it was to be shut down. The same thing goes for
“cutting down tress” working in a “chemical plant” and so for. So, in this case, it would be the ILWU that would be adamant on the Deeping of the channel. As they have been
“brainwashed’ by the ignorant, corrupt city “officials” in that the old Navy docks are imperative to the “Port of Stockton”. Never mind the fact that the port has out grown its
need and that there is many empty docks at the “Port”. (NOW)-
WOMEN, have a purpose in life aside from just reproducing. That being the case, protecting their young. So, it is going to be ladies, mothers that have to raise their voices
and address the truth in order to save their selves along whith their families and, of course, this goes without say, the world.
I am a retired Longshoreman, whith Stockton being my home port but I have worked in most ports on the West Coast.
Thrist
Thirst is a name of a movie made about water. Water is fast becoming as valuable as oil or gold. (There are stories of
people trading a handful of gold for water in the dessert). Matter of fact, it is quite possible that the finale war on this planet
will not be over liquid gold (oil), but the real liquid that supports all life, water. Since big, large, huge companies are getting
involved in water, sometimes holding large populations hostage, some concerned people from Stockton, Ca. have objected
to the turning over the city sewage plant to a large firm, OMI/Thames, being afraid that they too will fall under the influnance
of these large firms. The City of Stockton, as noted before, is not only corrupt, but is composed of ignorant, egotistical “hill-
billyes”, signed the contract whith said Companies before the public could act. So these people filed a law suit hoping that
the contract could be overturned via a mistake in the pre-approval of environment laws. So the latest trial was held on the
8th and 9th of August. These firm(s) along whith the City had “top of the line” attorneys. They showed that no laws were
broken as the City of Stockton followed all protocols. What should have happened was that (these) people should have
attended ALL the Council meetings and insisted that the local paper print/publish all the information.
I have now started to write, after investigating the water sources. Trying to talk/ tell the BIG shots anything, is like talking to an brick wall.
Well, I think it is about time that we, ( the people of this planet) start an intelligent comprehensive solution to the world water problem that we have made. Not only
here in Stockton, Ca., or the San Joaquin Valley, sate of California, USA or the world in whole. To which to start, water covers over 3/4 of the planet. Water does not
"go away" or "disappear" but just changes forms. Just as an individual can become wealthy by conserving money, so can we contain, keep water via persevering
and or conserving. Nature has provided us whith a perfect system. That being evaporation from the oceans that create moister, rain and show, to provide fresh
water. For example, the Nile river, (the start of civilization), water comes from snow on a mountain on the other side of the equator. Because of "mans" pollution, it
has caused vast weather changes, therefore decreasing the supply of snow on Mt. Kilimanjaro!
The answer to the water "crises" is relatively simple; RECYCLE!
|
Naive
Sometimes I can be so dumb. I always thought that a “treatment plant” would treat recycled water. Much to my surprise and demise, I
found out that the Stockton treatment plant does not recycle. They just “treat” it enough not to kill all the fish in the delta.
Like I said, I was always curious why a “Treatment Plant’ would be located out in the country. As far as I am concerned, water coming
down from the mountains is good enough to drink. However, to be on the safe side one might want to filter and add a little bit of
Chlorine, but why so far out of town.
[It takes a tremendous amount of “energy”, (electricity), to pump the water to Stockton]!
After the speeches, I inquired if sometime I could take a tour of the plant. The head man said, “you can do it right now’. So a lady, along
whith a real good looking lady started towards the plant. I thought “oboy, maybe I can kill two birds whith one stone”, however, they both
left after introducing me to Greg and his black lab dog, “Jack”. “How much time to I have”, inquires Greg, “forever”, I reply. “Have your
walking shoes on”, “yes”, I lie. So Greg, Jack and I head for the first building. Jack is having the time of his life, running here and there,
in the water, out of the water, bumping into me. To make this story short, (for now), basically the water flows from holding ponds, from
various sources, into “tanks” whith poisons dumped in the settling tanks and then passed through a series of filters whith the final
result of adding the acid Chlorine. Then the water is pumped to several Stockton centers, which being the finale results in order of you
turning on your water tap and receiving water.
After the tour, I asked Operations Superintendent “John Yoshimura” if East Bay Water had any communication whith them. He said that
all the groups have something to say, however, they can never agree on anything. That seems to be the case. He was also very
negative on other issues!
Now me, being naïve thinking, because it is called “treatment”, I assumed that, besides all the water coming from ground wells, as was
the case in the country and also “Ca. Water Service”, that the “Cities” water was being supplemented by the “treated” water, from the
Plant and the Delta. It seems that the plant “treats” the “water” just enough to not kill all the fish in the river! Woody Roe Alspaugh.
